How to make a tie out of Duct Tape

Making a tie out of duct tape is a simple, quick, and fairly easy project.

  1. Lay a long thin sheet of duct tape, no more than 2 strips wide
  2. Using a sharpie, trace a tie or freehand it to draw the outline of the tie
  3. Cut out the tie using scissors or an exacto knife

You now have a duct tape tie! Tie it just as you would a normal tie, but be careful. Many times I have tied it too tight and been unable to get the tie untied afterwards and would have to cut it to get it off.
